Project Overview

This full-scale interior design project is for a 1,000 sq ft kids’ clothing store, crafted to balance child accessibility, parent supervision, and maximum merchandise capacity. The layout is split into clear zones to guide family shoppers naturally, with a welcoming entrance, open browsing areas, a dedicated fitting room zone, and a secure warehouse at the rear. Our solution features rounded-edge fixtures, low-height clothing racks, soft lighting, and dedicated checkout counters designed for both kids and adults, creating a safe, engaging shopping environment.

Fixture Specifications

• Wall displays: Low-height single-rail clothing racks (max 48” height) with integrated storage shelves, child-friendly reach and parent-friendly hanging space
• Center floor: Rounded-edge display tables and island units (no sharp corners) for folded kids’ apparel, accessories, and seasonal collections
• Fitting rooms: 4 private curtained stalls with full-length mirrors, child-safe lighting, and a dedicated waiting area with cushioned seating for parents
• Checkout counters: Dual-height cash wrap with a lower section for kids and a standard adult-height counter, complete with under-counter storage for gift wrapping and supplies
• Warehouse: Secure back-of-house storage area with high shelving for bulk inventory, separate from the customer zone

Design Philosophy

The store is strategically divided into five functional zones to align with family shopping behavior:

1. Entrance Welcome Zone: Open, clutter-free entry with clear sightlines to invite families in
2. Perimeter Browsing Zone: Low-height wall racks for hanging kids’ clothing, organized by age range and gender
3. Central Display Zone: Rounded tables and islands for folded items, accessories, and seasonal promotions
4. Fitting & Waiting Zone: Quiet, well-lit stalls with parent seating, designed to reduce stress during the try-on process
5. Checkout & Exit Zone: Dual-height counters with kid-friendly finishes, creating a smooth end-to-end experience

The open floor plan and wide aisles accommodate strollers and family groups, while the consistent 10ft ceiling height maintains a bright, spacious feel throughout the store.

Materials

• Fixture finish: Soft matte pastel powder coating (scratch-resistant, easy to clean) with rounded edges for safety
• Flooring: Non-slip, stain-resistant vinyl plank flooring, suitable for high foot traffic and spills
• Lighting: 3,000K warm LED track system with dimmable spotlights, creating a soft, inviting atmosphere
• Accent details: Child-safe melamine panels with playful, washable graphics
